Hi, Tweets,
My family went to the Salt Lake City area and to Kanab, in southern Utah a few weeks ago. Here is a list of birds that my son Henry, 14, identified and saw for his first time. He did this by himself, as I am a beginner, with Sibley's and CDs to help ID.

Black-throated Sparrow
Rock Wren
Western Bluebird
Lark Sparrow
Grace's Warbler
Brewer's Sparrow
Cordilleran Flycatcher
Great-tailed Grackle
Ash-throated Flycatcher
American White Pelican
Eastern Kingbird
Black-billed Magpie
Say's Phoebe
Western Kingbird
Peregrine Falcon
Greater Roadrunner
Pygmy Nuthatch
Clark's Grebe
Blue-grey Gnatcatcher
Black-chinned Hummingbird
Golden Eagle
Canyon Wren
Green-tailed Towhee
Mountain Bluebird
Grey-headed Junco
White-breasted Nuthatch
Mountain Chickadee
Townsend's Solitaire
Juniper Titmouse
Phainopepla

In Boise, Idaho we stopped at the National Center for Birds of Prey. In Salt Lake City we went to the Tracy Aviary. In Kanab we went to Bryce, Zion, Grand Staircase Escalante, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. No condors in the wild, though, sigh, but still a trip of a lifetime!

Happy trails!
