The best way to control rats is to eliminate their sources of food and water and their habitat. ? I am guessing that the rats are going after the chicken feed.? Eliminating any chicken feed? that is scattered about the grounds will go a long way in solving the rat problem.? Trim back shrubs and ground cover which the rats may be using to hide their burrows.
