My opinion of this 'plan' is that it's a bad one. Humans are interfering
with nature again in the guise of environmentalism. Let the birds settle it
out for themselves even though you might not like the outcome. I won't argue
that the Spotted Owl habitat has been interfered with. That's obvious and it
definitely did the Spotted Owl no good. Chances are pretty good that the
Barred Owl would have invaded their territory anyway even though the habitat
HAD been largely destroyed. The Barred Owls have been moving West for
decades at an ever faster rate. My observation is that this is an inevitable
outcome. When Darwin used the phrase 'survival of the fittest' he did not
mean the strongest species would win, but rather that the species would win
out who were able to evolve the fastest. That would be the Barred Owl.
