We should not manage any location to improve its condition as habitat for
Barred Owls. Optimal habitat is just an additional source of owls and this
prolific species will easily fill the optimal habitat and the suboptimal. If
we create more of the ideal habitat, even in the suburbs of Seattle, we
almost certainly contribute to more Barred Owls living in the midst of the
relatively few remaining Spotted Owl territories.
