Hi tweeters,
Casey McHugh found a nesting pair of Tree toed woodpeckers on the Yellow
Aster Butte trail about two miles up. Today I went back with Casey and
easily found the nest. There on the right side of the trail. The nest hole
is in a snag with pealed bark. The nestling are very loud. There were two
in the hole with 2 maybe 3 flying around.
Yellow Aster Butte Trail is on Twin Lakes rd on the way to Mt Baker. The
rd is a little rough but I did it in a miny-van. It is a steep climb but
very beautiful. There are a lot of biting black flies.
Good birding Fanter
