The Swainson's thrushes began singing here on June 1 and the Olive-sided flycatcher ordered "quick, three beers" on the fifth. ?We've had a male California quail calling every morning since mid-May atop a burn pile we'll have to delay burning, and a frequent female Pileated woodpecker who's been hitting the suet pretty hard. ?A non-birding spring arrival was a juvenile cougar on our entrance road just after dawn on May 29.
We're 7 miles SE of Port Townsend on Rt 20, 120 feet up from Discovery Bay.
