Hi Tweeters,
I have a pair of Bewick?s Wrens nesting on my back deck. I have been able to observe them both from my kitchen window and while I am outside on the deck.
I first saw them bringing in nesting material on March 27th. Nest construction continued through April
I witnessed the first food delivery on May 14th
On May 16th I watched two birds coming and going from the nest. I assumed that this was hatch day or soon after and the mother no longer needed to brood her chicks all the time.
On May 19th I heard my first chirping coming from the nestlings.
On June 6th the young continue to chirp after the food delivery is made and the adults fly out of the nest.
I am surprised that the baby birds have not fledged yet. Although I?m thankful because I?m hoping to witness the event.
Any nest experts in Tweeterdom that can tell me when to expect the young to leave the nest?
