went up to the falls around 1330. at first only two birds were visible.
finally a third appeared. the fourth bird, the smallest, did not appear in
the hour that i was there, but they were not fed, so it could have been
sleeping out of sight. i was not able to see it anywhere near the scrape,
but it would not surprise me if it has fledged. scott will probably be up
there late today and his vision is much better than mine, so there may bee
more news later.

the video from two days ago is not inconsistent with what i saw yesterday.
at this stage, the birds can make pretty dramatic progress in cleaning
themselves up so far as downy feather remnants are concerned. the falcon
fed the chicks in pretty much the same fashion both days. it does seem as
though she was a bit more solicitous of the brood this entire season than
she was two years ago when the same site was used and three of the four
eggs died (probably from wet and cold and the sandy substrate at that point
on the cliff face).

regards,

t
