On Friday, 21 June 2013, I spent the morning and early afternoon birding in
the Upper Skagit Valley. It was cloudy with just a little light rain a few
times (great conditions for birding up there). The biggest surprise of the
day came in the form of a Northern Mockingbird at Corkindale which I
believe is the fifth record for the valley and seventh for Skagit County.

Highlights:

Cinnamon Teal - a male at the puddle at Sauk Prairie

Black Swift - 5, Corkindale and Marblemount

Peregrine Falcon - An adult stooped and caught a Violet-green Swallow just
thirty feet above me at Diablo, an impressive sight!

Willow Flycatcher - 63

Hammond's Flycatcher - 28

Western Kingbird - 1 Marblemount

Eastern Kingbird - 2 at Bryson Road, 3 at Marblemount

Red-eyed Vireo - 24

highway

two large pullouts south of Illabot Creek Road
