Subject: [Tweeters] First Rufous Hummingbird - Camas,

Obologists and Tweets, I had the first Rufous Hummingbird of the season at my feeders this morning, mature male in all of his glory. The resident Anna's were not particularly happy and chased him on and off all morning long. I had a pair of beautiful Townsends Warblers this afternoon working bug patrol on a star magnolia that is about ready to burst into blossom. This afternoon while I was in the yard I noticed a bird land up high in a fir and when I finally got glass on it I discovered a Townsend's Solitaire - a new yard bird. Barred Owls are nesting in the steep creek next to the house, I hear them last night for the first time in over a month and today I took a peak at the nest and the female was activing as if she was sheltering young rather than incubating eggs. I didn't get very close as I don't want to disturb them and I also don't want a scalp full of talon. I found a very early arriving Common Yellowthroat while on my walk near Cottonwood Beach in Washougal - something I wouldn't expect for at least another month. Cheers, Rob
