Hi Tweets: I wonder if anyone has recommendations for private bird guides in Guatemala. My husband and I are going there in May on a tour, but we will have a couple of days by ourselves. From what I read on the State Department website, it's not a good idea to run around Guatemala without a decent guide.

Also, last year we birded Panama and I wanted to pass along the name of Gonzalo Horna, a birding guide who picked us up at our Panama City hotel, took us for a full day of birding and also bought us lunch. He was very reasonably priced and speaks fluent English. You can reach him at GonzaloHorna at hotmail.com, or at his web sites, panamabirdguide.com or birdingbyboattour.com.

The Guatemala replies can be off tweets. Thanks! Liz Brown, Pilchuck Audubon Society
