Yesterday morning while preparing my breakfast I noticed a large grayish
lump at the edge of my little garden pond. It turned out to be a Barred owl
picking at something in its talons. It turned out to be eating a red-legged
frog. I was able to examine the carcass and I was surprised that it only ate
the stomach part of the frog and left behind the legs which I thought would
be the best part. Seemed like a lot of effort for not much food value but
maybe frogs have a vitamin like vitamin F or something.
