Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 7. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The Northeast Portland OVENBIRD continues to be seen. The immature
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER is still at Wildlife Safari near Winston. The RUSTY
BLACKBIRD in Ashland continues. The Toledo TUFTED DUCK continues to be seen
as is the one near Gaston.

Three SNOWY OWLS continue at the South Jetty of the Columbia River. The
wintering Astoria MOCKINGBIRD is still in the area. RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS
reached Astoria March 4. A PRAIRIE FALCON was seen March 3 at the Nestucca
Bay NWR. On March 1 two ROCK SANDPIPERS, 40 BLACK TURNSTONES, and a large
flock of SURFBIRDS were at the Barview Jetty at Tillamook Bay.

The Rentenaar Road HARRIS?S and CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS continue on Sauvie
Island. RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS reached the Portland area arch 4. On March 2 a
NORTHERN SHRIKE and four WESTERN BLUEBIRDS were at Powell Butte Park near
Gresham. The next day a SAY?S PHOEBE was there. On March 3 both TREE and
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were at the Sheridan Sewage Ponds. The FERRUGINOUS
HAWK west of McMinnville was seen again March 4. A BURROWING OWL was in
Eugene March 3. A PACIFIC LOON was in Eugene March 2. On March 4 a GREAT
GRAY OWL was near Roseburg. A large kettle of TURKEY VULTURES was seen March
5 in the Cascades east of Roseburg.

The RED-BREASTED MERGANSER continues at the Redmond Sewage Ponds. On March 2
both TREE and VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were at Hatfield Lake near Bend. The
EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was there that day also.
