Tweeters,

Here along upper Scatter Ck., east of Tenino, lots of evidence of spring:

On 3/12, first of year Rufous Hummingbird, Band-tailed Pigeons, and Turkey
Vultures. Over recent years our Rufous Hummer arrival date has varied from
March 2 to 12. First Tree Swallows arrived March 5, with about 30 boxes to
choose from along fence lines.

Pacific Chorus-Frogs reaching amazing volume on recent nights at nearby
marsh; Rough-skinned Newts crossing the bike trail.

Lots of singing: Hutton's Vireos, RC Kinglets, Bewick's Wrens, Pacific
Wrens, Marsh Wrens, Dark-eyed Juncos, Spotted Towhees, Song Sparrows, and
singing wintering Fox and Golden-crowned Sparrows all contributing to the
constant sounds.

Good spring birding, Bob
