Carol Schulz led 4 people from Rainier Audubon Society to 212th Pond, Green
River Natural area, Kent Pond, Russell Rd, Riverview and Des Moines Marina
on March 16, 2013. We started with sunshine and ended with pouring rain at
noon. A day of surprise and great fun! The high lights are:

Heard many Virginia Rails at 212st St. Pond. One actually came to the edge
of the marsh.

We saw at least 5 Wilson's Snipe flushed out of the marsh by Red-winged
Blackbird. This was Carol's first sight of Snipe at this location.

When we went to the Green River Natural Area near South Tower area, we
found Say?s Phoebe actively catching insects. A few photos were taken.

Many Violet-green Swallows were at the pond flying very low, feeding.

A Turkey Vulture flew over our head at the parking lot where we gathered.

We saw many Bald Eagles and Red-tailed Hawks. To Carol's disappointment we
did not re-locate the strange Hawk she saw a couple of days ago at the Kent
Pond.
