Details for this year's OBA (Oregon Birding Association) Conference in The Dalles from June 7-9 are now up at http://orbirds.org/2013conference.html or via the home page at http://orbirds.org. A printable registration form will be uploaded shortly.
Believe it or not, this is the first time an OBA conference has ever been held in The Dalles or in Wasco County! The east side of Mt. Hood is one of the best-kept birding secrets in northern Oregon, with a great number of interesting breeding birds, especially for the west-sider. For its birding quality, Wasco County is remarkably under-birded and therefore a goal for this conference is to show off the county and general area to the birding community. There are a variety of habitats to cover, such as sagebrush, grasslands, juniper woodlands, oak savannah, pine woodlands, and high mountain coniferous forest in the upper elevations toward Mt. Hood.
Interesting target birds include Gray and Dusky Flycatcher, Green-tailed Towhee, Mountain Quail, Grasshopper Sparrow and maybe Tricolored Blackbirds.
Mark your calender and be there!
