As we were about to head out the door to do our grocery shopping this
morning, we were surprised to see a Yellow Shafted Flicker ravaging our
suit. This was a new bird for our back yard so it created quite a stir in
our house - you know, "the pop your eyeballs out of your head, wipe them on
your shirt, return them to their sockets and look again" moment. Besides the
Yellow Shafted Flicker we had numerous Yellow Finches, 3 Red Shafted
Flickers, a Pine Siskin, a pair of Purple Finches, a Yellow-rumped Warbler,
a Chestnut-backed Chickadee and masses of Juncos - all within the 15 minutes
we were looking. Spring.ain't it grand!
