I attended the release of the first of the seven poisoned Bald Eagles
from Winlock yesterday. Link to my story and a photo essay here:

Great people, both the Audubon Society of Portland folks and the locals.
I was inspired by their commitment to the recovery of the eagles. They
are hoping to release at least 3 more on Saturday, same place in Winlock.

Checked my barn for Barn Owls this morning, ended up flushing the owl
(first I've seen of it this year, have heard it at night) out of the
barn. (I REALLY shouldn't take my dog on those trips!!) The owl was
mobbed by a pair of crows, who chased it back into the barn. Poor guy.
I'm leaving him alone now. No more peeking at him -- unless I leave the
dog at home. Crows don't normally hang out in my backyard unless there
are walnuts on the ground, I was surprised to see them there.

Photos here (I wish they were better, but it was a wild 60 seconds of
"OMGoodness!!"):http://www.almostdailynews.com/blogs/dailybird/2013/03/28/barn-owl-mobbed-by-murderous-pair-pond-ducks-by-the-dozen/
