I did a little birding on Puget Island and the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge today. A Northern Mockingbird was singing from the rooftop of 80 North Welcome Slough Road on Puget Island, where Stefan Schlick reported one on March 10. Large numbers of Greater Yellowlegs have arrived at the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge. Each of the refuge ponds had at least a few foraging along the edges. A Great Egret is still present at the Hornstra Ponds. A Red-shouldered Hawk was across from Skamokawa Gardens at the western border of the refuge.
