Hello Folks,

For WOS members: I have very few spots open for the trip. If you're interested now is the time! : )

Description below for the field trip:
Saturday June 1
(with May 31 optional early start)
Migrant Mania
Come bird the legendary migrant traps in Franklin and Adams Counties! This trip will be an all-day trip on June 1st. I plan on spending the night of May 31st at Bassett Park the night to get a head start. Of course, spending the night at Bassett Park May 31st is optional.

We will then bird the morning of June 1st starting at Bassett (leaving by 8:30am depending on the birds) and then moving on to Lyons?s Ferry, Palouse Falls, Kahlotus, Windust, Hatton Rest Area, and finally ending at Scooteney Reservoir. Late May and early June have been known to produce good Eastern Washington birds such as Yellow-Breasted Chats, and Red-Eyed Vireo. Target birds: Migrant Passerines: Lazuli Bunting, Black-Headed Grosbeak, Vireos, Warblers, Bullock?s Oriole, and Kingbirds; Raptors: Ferruginous Hawk, Golden Eagle, and Accipiters; Other birds of interest: American White Pelican, possible shorebirds and other aquatic loving species at Scooteney.

Limit 10 participants. Plan for a whole day of birding bring food, sunscreen, bug spray, and carpool money. Bring a tent or plan to sleep in car if spending the night at Bassett Park on May 31st.

Thanks,

Kevin Black
