Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 2. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

On April 28 a THICK-BILLED MURRE was seen passing northward off Cape Arago
near Coos Bay. A MANX-TYPE SHEARWATER was off Boiler Bay April 26.

West winds during the week brought spectacular movements along the beaches,
especially BONAPARTE?S GULLS, RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, and PACIFIC and
RED-THROATED LOONS. Heavy movements inland brought conspicuous numbers of
flycatchers. The WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE movement continues.

On April 26 two FRANKLIN?S GULLS were among the heavy CALIFORNIA GULL
movement off Boiler Bay. That day a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at the south jetty
of Yaquina Bay.

On April 25 a BLACK-NECKED STILT was at Ridgefield NWR. That day a female
CALIOPE HUMMINGBIRD and a SOLITARY SANDPIPER were at Mt. Tabor Park in
Portland. A male RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was in Gresham April 29. A large number
of hawks gathered during the week on a mowed field Stoller Road near
Lafayette. Among them were five SWAINSON?S HAWKS. During the week a
GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE, an AVOCET, and four BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at the
Tualatin NWR. Two WILSON?S PHALAROPES were near Turner April 27. A
BLACK-NECKED STILT was at Ankeny NWR April 30. That day an AVOCET, two
BLACK-NECKED STILTS and nine GREAT EGRETS were at Finley NWR, and seven
EARED GREBES were at the Philomath Sewage Ponds. On April 26 a SAGE SPARROW,
an AVOCET, and a BLACK-NECKED STILT
Were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

That?s it for this week.
