What a Great day to get out and do a little bird watching. I spent
this morning birding around the Rattlesnake Lake Recreation Area
(North Bend). It started out quite slow (in fact I was beginning to
wonder where all the birds were), but soon enough things began to
happen. The very easy .3 mile walk from the parking area along the
lake to the trail head was super good for warblers. There were quite
a few people at the lake today and I would recommend not birding there
on the weekends unless you like crowds. For about an hour this
afternoon I walked about the Stillwater Wildlife Management Area and
ran into Carl Haney who was also out enjoying a fine day for birding.
Some of the highlights of my day out included:

Wood Duck - a pair at Stillwater WMA

Turkey Vulture - one each at Stillwater WMA & Rattlesnake Lake

Rufous Hummingbird - were out in force at both locations

Hammond's Flycatcher - Rattlesnake Lake Rec Area

Pacific-slope Flycatcher - several at Rattlesnake Lake Rec Area

MacGillivray's, Wilson's, Black-throated Gray (many), Orange-crowned,
and Yellow-rumped Warblers - Rattlesnake Lake Rec Area

Lincoln's Sparrow - Stillwater Lake Rec Area

Black-headed Grosbeak - Stillwater Lake Rec Area

Cheers and Good Birding;
