The first bird that greeted Sarah Peden and me during the monthly Magnuson Park count this past Saturday morning (11 May 2013) was a Solitary Sandpiper. This rare visitor stayed at the park all morning, providing good looks for several folks.

Barn Owl - at least 2 young hissing from the tower building, at least 1 young hissing from Community center box; and an adult hunting near the cross park path
Anna's Hummingbird - feeding 2 young, on Promontory Point
Hammond's and Pacific Slope Flycatchers
Bushtit - one pair bringing caterpillars to nest at Community Gardens, another pair making a new nest in the SE pond
Many Orange-crowned and Wilson's Warblers and Western Tanagers, most at Promontory Point.
