Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 15. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

On May 10 a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was reported from Ridgefield NWR. A
probable CHIMNEY SWIFT was seen May 11 at a Roseburg chimney roost. A
WHITE-WINGED DOVE was at Langlois May 13. Also on May 10 a male INDIGO
BUNTING was in Bend. A BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was at Cape Blanco May
14. On May 15 a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Malheur NWR Headquarters.

Heavy migrations continued during the week bringing many SWAINSON?S
THRUSHES, WESTERN TANAGERS and late flycatchers.


Two PALM WARBLERS were near otis May 15. On May 11 single SWAINSON?S HAWKS
were at the Nehalem Sewage Ponds and in Tillamook. On May 14 five probable
BLACK SWIFTS were at the Necanicum River mouth at Gearhart.

A LARK SPARROW was seen May 10 at the upper reservoir in the Bull Run
Reservoir west of Portland. A SAY?S PHOEBE was seen May 9 in Gladstone. On
May 13 nine GREAT EGRETS and two SNOWY EGRETS were at Jackson Bottom in
Hillsboro. A WHIMBREL, two BLACK-NECKED STILTS, and four WILSON?S PHALAROPES
were at Ankeny NWR during the week. Two BLACK TERNS were seen May 11 at the
Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove. Four BLACK-NECKED STILTS, two BLACK
TERNS, and two WILSON?S PHALAROPES were seen May 11 at Baskett Slough NWR.
Six LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were seen during the week along Beta Drive in
Albany. Five WHITE-FACED IBIS were aat Fern Ridge Reservoir May 13.

Two WHITE-FACED IBIS, nine BLACK-NECKED STILTS, and six AVOCETS were seen
May 13 at at the Cold Spring NWR near Hermiston. On May 10 three WHITE-FACED
IBIS were at the Redmond Sewage Ponds. A MOCKINGBIRD was seen May 10 at
Peters Creek Campground along Fredrick?s butte Road about 20 miles south of
Highway 20. On May 10 three WHITE-FACED IBIS were at the Redmond Sewage
Ponds. A HARRIS?S SPARROW was in Fields May 12.

A May 12 survey at Lake Abert found 1384 AVOCETS, 6,500 RED-NECKED and 2200
WILSON?S PHALAROPES, and 5630 EARED GREBES.
