Hi Tweeters,

This morning I discovered a new BANK SWALLOW colony along the Cowlitz River
in northern Cowlitz County. I accessed the river along Imboden Road at the
1st pullout north of Trinity Drive. There was easily more than 50 holes in
the steep clay bank across the river with about 40 swallows over the river
and another 20 over the wetland/field at the Imboden-Trinity intersection.
I'm surre this colony is new this year as this wetland gets birded
regularly and Bank Swallows haven't been at this site in previous years.
For avid county listers this is very close to the Lewis County line and
watching the river just north of the line might net them for that county
also. The traditional Bank Swallow colony at I-5 MP 52 at the Toutle River
RV Resort is also active.
