hi all ... I too spent quite a few hours at the Ridgefield Refuge but
unfortunately I never took the Kiwa Trail and therefore missed the
Black Terns ... bummer ...

but I did find this "cutie" ... him and his 2 "brothers" were sitting
in the middle of the road just waiting to be smushed ... the other 2
guys were more mobile than this guy and I managed to herd them back
into the high grasses pretty easily ... this little guy however just
sat and cheeped ... I did get him off the road --- took some photos
--- and then grabbed a handful of grasses and sort of pushed him back
into the high grasses ... hope he goes back to the nest ... otherwise
if he doesn't get run over he's gonna be some Herons snack ...
