On Saturday, Jordan Gunn and I led a Seattle Audubon field trip to Point No Point and vicinity, visiting Foulweather Bluff, Buck Lake, Port of Eglon and Norwegian Point plus morning and afternoon stops at Point No Point. Our stalwart participants braved 40+ mph winds at the point, then steady rain in the middle of the day, to earn some nice birds.

Arriving in Hansville, a Merlin flew over the road. We saw over 1500 Bonaparte?s Gulls at PNP but could not conjure up a jaeger. The point also produced all the expected alcids plus a pair of Ancient Murrelets, as well as good looks at all three Scoters and Loons. The marsh/meadow had a Wilson?s Snipe flush and a Virginia Rail calling, and an Anna?s Hummingbird visited the dried flowers at the lighthouse. An Eared Grebe showed up at Port of Eglon. While at Buck Lake, several skeins of Cackling Geese flew-over, heading west. Finally, a mixed flock of Dunlin, Killdeer, Sanderling and Black-bellied Plover were foraging the beach at Norwegian Point.

For the day, 66 species.
