Hi
Plenty of activity at Neah Bay today, although I (once again) failed to
find the Tropical Kingbird. Too cryptic and skulking, I suppose.

The *KUMLIEN'S GULL* was there. I obtained extensive, but not technically
good, photos showing a) the aspect and structure of Iceland/ Kumlien's
(general color/ pattern, small head, deep body, short legs, primary
extension of more than the bill length, longer 'hand' than 'arm') and b)
several features suggesting Kumlien's not glaucoides (the almost all-dark
bill, distinct tail band, unmarked centers to tertials). I think that the
paleness of the primaries favors glaucoides over Kumlein's, but I'll think
about that more.

There were several *SWAMP SPARROWS *in the Wa'atch valley. Definitely 3 and
perhaps 5.

Also a FOS (for me) *ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.*

But the bird of the day might yet be a *MEADOWLARK *on Hobuck spit, just
after the campground ends. It had an awful lot of white in the tail, and a
white malar stripe... *Eastern *anyone? It didn't call.
