Eric Heisey and I spent yesterday morning birding areas around Toppenish in Yakima County. The main highlight was a Rusty Blackbird found on Meyers Road just south of Toppenish. To find the location, go south of Hwy.22 from Toppenish about 1.5 miles and Meyers Road crosses Hwy. 22. The bird was on the south side of Meyers Road and mixed in a flock of cowbirds, starlings, Red-winged, Brewer's and one Yellow-headed Blackbird. In the afternoon, Andy Stepniewski relocated the bird on the north side of Meyers Road. Other notables for the day were a couple of American Tree Sparrows off of Marion Drain Road and a Snow Goose at the ponds along US 97. Eric's photos of these birds can be found at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/birdfishphotos/
