Hi Tweeters & Inland NW Birders -

We've got the latest updated version of the 2013 County Year List Project up online at Washington Birder. Almost all counties have reported in with totals through the end of October. As ever, County Compilers, especially for the under-birded counties, would appreciate receiving reports of any birds seen in their counties not yet noted on this spreadsheet.

The pace of new birds for the state has slowed a bit after the fall migration push. The state year total is 394, still a little lower than last year's total of 396 at the same time. 321 species have been reported in Eastern WA [up one from 2012], and Western WA has seen 360 species [down from 365 at this point last year].

30 counties have now reported over 200 species for their year list.
18 counties have totals higher than this point last year, 19 are lower than last year, and one is the same [the consistency award goes to Grant Co.].

21 species have been seen this year that were not seen in WA last year by this point. 23 were seen in 2012 by now that have not re-appeared this time around.

If you'd like to take a look at where things stand, the list and many other interesting files are at the Washington Birder website:

Thanks to all the compilers and all those pitching in to sketch a picture of another year's birds in WA.
