Subject: [Tweeters] Edmonds Marsh Palm Warbler followup

I am not reporting a new sighting, just following up with some observations.?? I originally reported the bird as an orange-crowned warbler because my first effort in trying to identify a bird is to look among the common, local birds.? After looking at my first photos, which were not that good, a few? Tweetsters contacted me to suggest it may be a palm warbler.

My second set of photos were much better and more Tweetsters identified the bird as a palm warbler.

According to my Sibley's, the nearest migratory range of the palm warbler is that of the brown (western) subspecies, which includes the southern ?California coast and the midwest.?? Looking at my photos, the bird at the Edmonds marsh appears to be a yellow (eastern) subspecies. ? Sibley's says its range is the east coast of the US and Canada, which would place our visitor even farther from its usual home.?

As I am fond of saying, few birds read calendars, maps or Sibley's.
