Yesterday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Clarice and I walked along a new section of the paved trail that Sumner
has been adding too for a few years, which runs parallel with the Stuck (Lower White to non-traditionalists)
River north of the REI warehouse and south of the Sumner Golf Course. In addition to a very vocal, large,
Peregrine hassling a Redtail, several Bald Eagles, flock of what I supposed were Pipits (drats, did not carry
binoculars) in one of the few remaining turf farms, we noted a flock of 9 swans flying north in a line. Too far
away to see details, and they remained quiet, so we don't know the species. We saw them south of the
Sumner Golf Course, flying north about over the railroad tracks that parallel East Valley Highway. Don't
know if they set down nearby.Jerry Broadus
