Saw a northern shrike at midday today 11/25 in the Mud Bay area. It may
have been a juvenile since it had a lemon colored breast. Other markings
matched Sibley. Its flight was reminiscent of a mocking bird, which is
classic. Specific location was south of the Blue Heron Bakery, through the
adjacent Capitol Land Trust property but on a narrow strip across a narrow
inlet (so no direct land access). I saw it while kayaking from the water
on the south side of this "peninsuila" in open habitat with shrubs and
10-20 ft deciduous trees.
