Very quiet morning compared to yesterday at the park. Maybe Black Friday has its upside (for us birders). But, the birds were enjoying their day in the gray.

The Snow Goose continues to mingle with the Canadas, as well as a single Cackling Goose.
Kevin A. and I were chatting when two presumed Tundra Swan flew up lake.
The scaup are back in the dozens, with Lesser and Greater in about equal numbers.
A Eurasian Green-winged Teal was in the Entrance Pond with several Americans.
A Common Loon was off the NOAA point while a Great Blue Heron worked the NOAA shore.
A very large flock of Western Grebe were well out in the lake, toward Kirkland, perhaps 80 birds, or more.
Two Cooper?s Hawks were about: an adult female with a blue leg band and a juvenile male, seen in several locations.
A Virginia Rail was squeaking from the wetlands and a Wilson?s Snipe was seen flying between wetland meadows.
A dark Merlin made several forays at the N end of the park, being chased, in turn, by AMRO, HOFI and COHA.
A female Townsend?s Warbler was foraging with a large flock of kinglets and chickadees on Promontory Point and a Purple Finch was seen on Kite Hill.

For the day, 61 species. With the swans, 140 species for the year.
