Thanks to those who sent advice and contact information. My bird-loving son got to gently cover the bird with a towel and place it in a box. We drove our pigeon through the rain and on back roads around a traffic jam to get to For Heaven's Sake Animal Rescue and Rehab where the folks were happy to take care of it. This place opened in 2010 and is located on Case Road just near where you see the huge video sign for the Lucky Eagle Casino as you drive I-5.
