Early this afternoon, I viewed (and heard) more than 500 sand hill cranes flying in two flocks along the south bank of the Chehalis River opposite the Brady Loop area. One flock had, by my estimate, 150 birds and the other 350+. The larger flock turned back east and disappeared east of the Satsop Nuke Towers. The smaller flock put down west of the towers. I have never seen this many sand hills in the 16 years I've lived on the Brady Loop Road. Amazing!
