Hi Tweets,
I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and spent a few hours birding Spencer Island Park and the surrounding watertrail. Lots of great birds, both migrants heading south and wintering birds. The most notable include:

Greater White-fronted Goose - 4, overhead
Virginia Rail - heard 2, saw 1
Long-billed Dowitcher - 1
Vaux's Swift - about 20 or so
NORTHERN SHRIKE - 1 immature, my first of the season
Orange-crowned Warbler - 1
NASHVILLE WARBLER - 1
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1, FOS
Western Meadowlark - 1 or 2

The most interesting non-bird sighting were the many pink salmon in the Snohomish River. There were many carcasses washed up on the banks and many that were clearly dying and drifting down with the currents.

All and all, it was a great way to spend a furlough day! Happy birding!
