Dear Tweeters,
?
It was a nice weekend for birding in Skagit County. Here are some highlights.
?
BLUE GOOSE: one adult today (6 October) at Jensen Access, with about 2000 Snow Geese.
?
White-fronted Goose: 80 at the West Ninety and about a hundred on Fir Island.
?
Cackling Goose: twenty or so on Fir Island.
?
Turkey Vulture: two at dusk this evening, at DeBay's Slough.
?
Black-bellied Plover: a few dozen each today at the West Ninety and on Fir Island.
?
PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER: one this afternoon at Hayton Reserve.
?
Orange-crowned Warbler: one yesterday at Illabot Creek habitat improvement site, along Rockport-Cascade Road where it crosses the creek.
?
Common Yellowthroat: one female yesterday, with the Orange-crowned Warbler along Illabot Creek.
?
Western Meadowlark: two yesterday in the clearcut just west of Barnaby Slough; 8 or so today at the West Ninety.
?
Also, I report a bit tardily that the Black-headed Grosbeak came back to my feeder near Lyman on October 2, my latest ever.
?
Yours truly,
?Gary Bletsch
