Ah, it was wonderful to get back over to dry air and some sun, no wind and mild temperatures, punctuated with a bit of subtle color, a bird or three, some deer and bighorn sheep and, of course, a stop at the Cle Elum Bakery. So different from the last time I was there, in mid-June, with site upon site of fledging raptors. Kind of nice and peaceful, a relaxing day for trying to figure out a few things about a new camera. Met up with Dory & Ray for a bit and they gave me a few tips and Ray discovered a spritely little Ruby-crowned Kinglet, of which he captured a few photos. I managed to get a couple of photos of the Prairie Falcon nest in the far-away cliffs with just my camera and no scope !

More details can be found with the set of photos in the following Flickr set: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjKAUMAa (7 photos by Dory and Ray were just added to the set)

A shortlist of wildlife seen by all or some of us: Red-tailed Hawk, American Dipper, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Robin, Morning Dove, American Kestrel, Belted Kingfisher, a 'dash'ing Burlington Northern, bighorn sheep, deer, frolicking Common Ravens up near some rimrock, a raptor with long wings that looked like an Osprey (flying over the Yakima River) as I drove down Canon (Canyon) Road, Spotted Towhee, Black-capped Chickadees, Song Sparrows, trout, dragonflies (a few), Black-billed Magpies, Steller's Jays, and...probably a few more !

-----------More seen by Ray & Dory at the S. Cle Elum RR ponds:
Mallards, Coots, Red-winged Blackbird, Pied-billed Grebes, Common Mergansers, Northern Flicker, Canada Geese
