One AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was in the Larsen Lake area at high noon today
with a flock of ~10 juncos and a few B-c Chickadees, first in the
blueberries right along the bark mulch path that runs straight east from the Larsen
Lake Blueberry Farm parking lot (148th Ave SE), just before where the path
takes a 90-degree turn to the left (north). The flock including the Tree
Sparrow then flew across path to the first clump of blackberries on the south
side where it afforded it's best and most satisfying views. Probably not
a guaranteed stakeout at any one specific spot since there's lots of this
sort habitat out there, acres and acres of blueberries, and the
sparrow/junco flocks move around a lot, so could be anywhere. This was my very first
American Tree Sparrow in the Lake Hills Greenbelt, thus a very nice and
unexpected surprise.

FWIW, the previously reported 16 Greater White-fronted Geese that hung
around in the small farm field for a week up through this past Monday on the
NE corner of 156th Ave SE and SE 16th St seem to be gone, maybe for real and
for good this time. No resights today nor yesterday. The only calling
cards from their week-long presence left out there now are an awful lot of
molted feathers and down all over the place and the rows of large leaf herbs
they favored feeding on now stripped of all leaves with just bare broken
stalks remaining.
