Hi Tweets.....

For those of you who like to follow the birds being seen at Lake Sammamish State Park, here's an eBird report:

Lake Sammamish State Park, King, US-WA
Oct 16, 2013 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Protocol: Traveling
2.5 mile(s)
Comments: Sharon Aagaard and Stan Wood birded with 8 others at Eastside Audubon's monthly bird walk at Lake Sammamish State Park on October 16, 2013, from 8 am to noon. It was foggy, 3 mph winds, with temps 49-54 degrees F. HIGHLIGHTS: Nice to see some of the winter birds are back (Cackling Geese, American Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Ruddy Duck (seen 10/14 and 10/15) Horned Grebe, Western Grebe, Double-crested Cormorant, American Coot, Pacific Wren, Fox Sparrow (singing the song of the Autumnal Recrudescence of the Amatory Urge), & Golden-crown Sparrow). We also enjoyed seeing a Cooper's Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk and a Merlin. Also, A mostly red and black parrott-type bird (bill appears too small to be a McCaw), about the size of a crow, was feeding high up in a Birch Tree (was first reported to our group by a walker in August); the 3 Swan Geese are still there (since last Sept); and 2 fresh owl pellets were found at the base of a Birch Tree next to Issaquah Creek. 48 species for the day; 108 species for the year. The next bird walk is NOVEMBER 5. No pre-registration, just show up depending on your mood or the weather. Since this is a state park, a Discover Pass is necessary to park ($10 daily, $30 annual). We meet in the large parking lot to the left just inside the main park entrance (not the boat launch entrance).
48 species (+2 other taxa)
