Today at 1:00 I arrived at the gravel lot and immediately saw one marbled godwit straight out from the most accessible "path" to the beach. I began to scan to the North but a merlin flashed by. I looked for the bird I first saw, but in the next ten minutes or so, I saw no godwits. The merlin flashed by again, but didn't flush any of the gulls and ducks present.
