Hi Tweeters -
In case anyone is headed to the coast in the coming days, I wanted to pass along a long-shot that might be worth pursuing.
Someone has reported an Aberdeen GREEN KINGFISHER to the WBRC this week. The reporter is not a birder, but the report doesn't sound so thin that I want to dismiss it outright -- and since the reporter has been able to see it both on Oct 21 and Oct 23, it sounds like it might be sticking around, whatever it is.

I wouldn't make a special trip if you aren't headed that way just yet -- a lot of strange reports come in and the likelihood of this actually being a Green Kingfisher has to be pretty low. But still. Wouldn't it be a kick!?

Location:
> just by the southshore side of the bridge across from Aberdeen towards Westport . Across the street from the Swanson's supermarket parking lot are three tall sculptures with a kind of walkway behind . The locals fish there and there is a resident GB Heron pretty much always there

Yesterday, the reporter saw it ' fish off a maybe ten foot piling left from the old piers '

There's no reports of this species from anywhere near WA, so the odds are long.

I'd appreciate any reports positive or negative if anyone tries, and I'm sure the whole list would love to hear of any positive reports.

Best,
