Barrow's Goldeneyes made their appearance on the Edmonds waterfront this morning as four landed near the large raft of Surf Scoters near the ferry dock. Both Common and Red-breasted Mergansers have been waterfront fly-bys. Harlequin Ducks are being seen a little more regularly. Up to five have been coming to rest on the lower rocks of the marina's south breakwater. A few days ago there were eleven Black Scoters north of the dive park. The Canvasback has moved on but the Northern Pintail drake was sticking around until today when I could not find it. There was a hybrid Eurasian Wigeon among the American Wigeons a few days ago.

A few Pacific Loons have been seen lately. Horned and Red-necked Grebe numbers are increasing on the Edmonds waterfront. Today was a four-alcid morning: Pigeon Guillemots, Rhinoceros Auklets, Common Murres, and Marbled Murrelets. A good number of Heermann's Gulls are still present, as are many Bonaparte's Gulls. Mew Gulls are showing up as California Gulls are moving out.

We've been watching Yellow-rumped Warblers for the last couple of weeks. Yesterday we saw our first-of-fall Townsend's Warblers near the Willow Creek Hatchery. The only bird of interest in the marsh recently was a Dunlin. We are at 175 species for the year.
