Tweets, Monday evening at low tide good numbers of Elegant Tern were off
Point Brown jetty in Ocean Shores. The first group, 11 birds, showed up
about 7:35 and departed southward by 7:45. At 7:50 a larger group -- 45 by
my count -- arrived from the north, escorted by a Parasitic Jaeger. At one
point I counted 56, so possibly the first group returned. I may have seen a
Common Tern among them, a bird that seemed to prefer the periphery. Other
rockpipers: 12+ Surfbird, 4 Wandering Tattler, 3 Black Turnstone.
Otherwise I was skunked on Monday. No grackle in Puyallup following an
early airport run, no plover, no longspur. I sat at the longspur spot from
7:35 to 8pm hoping it would make a showing as it had the previous evening,
no such luck. Fellow birders were all every helpful! Good birding!
