I just received an email with an amazing photo of a Brown Booby sitting on
the water in Portage Bay and the Lake Washington Ship Canal seen and
photographed sometime yesterday (11Sep) by a former NOAA colleague and ship
Captain. Sounds like this happened EAST of the I-5 Ship Canal bridge, maybe
nearer the UDub. Now that would be a pretty good bird for the gang that
frequents the Montlake Fill now wouldn't it :-)) I'm trying to get more
details and will pass them along, but in the meantime, keep your eyes out for a
Brown Booby that MIGHT be roaming around Lake Union, Lake Washington, or out
in the nearshore reaches of Puget Sound. Didn't someone (or multiple
people) report a Brown Booby from Discovery Park not too terribly far back,
maybe a couple months or so ago?
