Yesterday's storm gave rise to a HORNED LARK sighting (code 5, Edmonds; code 3 Snohomish County) on the Edmonds waterfront this morning. This is Dennis Duffy's fourth HOLA sighting for the city. Ted Peterson, Steve Pink, and I were able to see it while it was still around. With its white throat, it appeared to be an Arctic race lark. The mask and breastband were just filling in and not as dark as they will be once this juvenile bird completes its molt to adult plumage. The horns were completely formed, however.

We have also had PARASITIC JAEGERS on two afternoons in the last week. Both days I have seen them by scope north of Sunset Avenue, harassing gull flocks. On Sunday afternoon there were either three or four of them. We have had no morning sightings yet.

On Friday the 13th there was one Semipalmated Plover in the marsh. The Pectoral Sandpipers seem to have bypassed Edmonds this fall.

Other than that, Barn Swallows, Western Sandpipers, and Savannah Sparrows continue to migrate through. We did see an Orange-crowned Warbler, and there were 20 Canada Geese as well as American Goldfinch and Red-winged Blackbird movement around the marsh this morning. We are at 170 species for the year.
