The Osprey nest in Lakewood near the north end of Steilacoom Lake had been empty for nearly a week, when Saturday afternoon there was one youngster calling repeatedly to no one there.? Perhaps his parents forgot to point him southward.

I was on Whidbey Island last Saturday and there was still an Osprey in the nest on the cell phone tower on SR525, about two or three miles north of Freeland.

He better get busy fledging and head south before the snow flies.
