Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A PHAINOPEPLA is now being seen along Tennison Street in Hines. Two NORTHERN
WATERTHRUSHES were at Arizona Beach State Park south of Port Orford
September 23. That day a Tennessee Warbler was near Corvallis. On September
18 a BROAD-WINGED HAWK passed the Bonney Butte Hawkwatch Station near Mt.
Hood. Another was there the next day. Another BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen
September 21 near Burns

A major and conspicuous movement of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE move over Oregon
with most stopping in the Klamath Basin. Smaller numbers of CACKLING GEESE
were with them. CASPIAN and ELEGANT TERNS are still being seen along the
coast.

On September 20 a CATBIRD was near Brookings. LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen
during the week at Tillamook Bay and at the South Jetty of the Columbia
River.

On September 21 a SABINE?S GULL, three BLACK SWIFTS, and a SWAINSON?S HAWK
were on Sauvie Island. At Smith/Bybee Lakes during the week were seven
AVOCENTS, a SNOWY EGRET, WHIMBREL, and a SANDERLING. On September 22 several
thousand BARN SWALLOWS were seen there. Up to 50 TURKEY VULTURES were seen
September 19 on a power pole along the I5 freeway north of Brooks. On
September 21 a SABINE?S GULL and four COMMON TERNS were at Fern Ridge
Reservoir. A SABINE?S GULL and an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER were seen September
25 at the Kirkland Road Sewage Ponds near White City.

On September 22 three PURPLE MARTINS were in The Dalles. A COSTA?S
HUMMINGBIRD, BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE, and a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW were in Bend
during the week. On September 21 a PARASITIC JAEGER and two SABINE?S GULLS
were at the Malheur Lake Boat Launch. A SANDERLING was seen September 21
walking about the parking lot in front of the Fields Store.
