I birded from Sunset Avenue at Edmonds this morning, and when I arrived, there was an immature Brown Pelican sitting on the water to the northwest. After about 10 minutes, it followed a fishing boat to the south, sitting on the water again for another 10 minutes. It then flew off to the south. I last saw it going towards the fishing pier.

Other birds of interest (to me) included one Brandt's Cormorant, two Double-crested Cormorants that have yellow bands on their left legs (one adult and one immature), two Red-necked Grebes, one Common Murre, and a Northern Harrier that apparently flew across the sound.

To follow-up on Carol Riddell's post, if you want to see a Blue-footed Booby in the ABA Area, NOW is the time to go to CA. The invasion going on is unprecedented in the number of individuals involved and geographic scope. The Salton Sea would be the most reliable place to look (there are 70+ individuals there, but the invasion has reached Bodega Head in Sonoma County. Actually, one was photographed in BC several days ago, representing a first photo-documented record for Canada. It may just be a matter of time for one to be reported from WA.
